Nano Carbon Black Masterbatch for PET Packaging
DENSON PET Black Masterbatch is a nano carbon black colorant system engineered specifically for PET bottles, containers and thermoformed packaging. FDA-compliant, 100% dye-free and non-migrating, our masterbatches deliver premium jet-black aesthetics from translucent smoke-grey to high-gloss optical black. Using 300 nm nano-scale furnace carbon black dispersed in a PET-compatible carrier, these grades eliminate dye migration, plate-out and surface bloom—problems common with conventional dye-based transparent grey products. Suitable for direct food-contact and personal-care applications, with full compliance across FDA, EU 10/2011, REACH and RoHS frameworks.
FDA Compliant
Food-contact grade, meets FDA 21 CFR and EU 10/2011
Dye-Free & Non-Migrating
100% pigment coloration, no acid dyes, zero migration
300 nm Nano Particle
Ultra-fine carbon black, maximum jetness and gloss
pH 3–9 Chemical Resistant
Stable against alcohol, oils, surfactants, acids and alkalis
2 Grades Available
Transparent Type FDANano Carbon Black Masterbatch
Optical: Translucent smoke-grey
100% Dye-Free Transparency: Unlike conventional transparent grey masterbatches that use acid dyes to achieve smoke-grey effects, PET-1000 delivers uniform translucent color using only nano carbon black pigment. This is the fundamental difference from market alternatives.

What is the difference between PET-1000 and PET-5000?
+
PET-1000 is a transparent/translucent grade that delivers a uniform smoke-grey tint while preserving light transmission. PET-5000 is a hiding grade that produces deep, high-gloss optical black with a blue undertone using 300 nm nano carbon black. Both are 100% dye-free and FDA food-contact compliant.
Why is "dye-free" important for transparent grey PET masterbatch?
+
Conventional transparent grey masterbatches use acid dyes to achieve smoke-grey effects. These dyes inevitably migrate into contents, plate out on molds and preforms, and cause surface bloom over time. PET-1000 uses only nano carbon black pigment—no dyes—delivering the same transparent grey effect with zero migration. This is the fundamental difference from market alternatives.
What are the advantages of 300 nm nano carbon black?
+
300 nm nano-grade carbon black provides higher jetness (deeper black at equal loading), higher gloss and distinctness of image (DOI), finer more uniform dispersion with fewer speck rejects in thin-wall bottles, better UV screening per unit weight, and lower filter pressure value (FPV) for longer production runs.
Are PET black masterbatches safe for food contact?
+
Yes, both PET-1000 and PET-5000 are FDA compliant under 21 CFR regulations, suitable for food contact under EU Regulation 10/2011, REACH compliant (free of SVHC above 0.1%), RoHS compliant, heavy-metal-free (no cadmium, lead, mercury, chromium VI), and azo-dye free.
What is the recommended let-down ratio (LDR)?
+
The standard starting point is 4% by weight. Adjust between 2-6% to target the desired opacity: PET-1000 at lower LDR (2-3%) yields a lighter translucent grey, while PET-5000 at 4% gives full optical black.
What processing methods are compatible?
+
PET-1000 supports injection stretch blow molding (ISBM), extrusion blow molding (EBM), injection molding, sheet extrusion & thermoforming, blown/cast film, and fiber spinning. PET-5000 is optimized for ISBM and EBM blow molding of bottles and containers, as well as injection molding of jars and closures.
