What types of pigments does DENSON offer?
+
DENSON offers both organic and inorganic pigments. Our organic range includes DPP (diketo-pyrrolo-pyrrole) reds, quinacridone reds and violets, phthalocyanine blues and greens, benzimidazolone yellows, indanthrone blue, and azo pigments. Our inorganic range includes iron oxide yellow and red, manganese-iron spinel black, bismuth vanadate yellow, zinc ferrite yellow, and ultramarine blue.
What is the heat resistance range of DENSON pigments?
+
Heat resistance ranges from 200°C (standard iron oxide yellow) to 800°C (manganese-iron black P.B.26). Most organic pigments offer 220-280°C, while premium inorganic grades exceed 300°C. Specific heat resistance values are listed for every grade in the product specification table.
What do light fastness and migration resistance ratings mean?
+
Light fastness is rated on a scale of 1-8, where 8 is the highest (excellent resistance to fading under UV and light exposure). Most DENSON pigments are rated 7-8. Migration resistance is rated 1-5, where 5 means no migration or bleeding when in contact with other materials. All DENSON pigments achieve migration resistance grade 5.
What is oil absorption value and why does it matter?
+
Oil absorption (measured in g/100g) indicates the amount of resin or vehicle required to wet the pigment particles. Lower oil absorption means higher possible pigment loading in the formulation, lower cost, and better mechanical properties. DENSON pigments range from 20 (inorganic iron oxides, ultramarine, bismuth vanadate) to 55 (indanthrone blue, dioxazine violet).
What applications are DENSON pigments suitable for?
+
DENSON pigments are suitable for a wide range of applications including industrial coatings, architectural coatings, automotive coatings, powder coatings, printing inks (offset, gravure, flexo), plastics (PVC, PE, PP, PS, ABS), masterbatch production, color paste manufacturing, textiles, and construction materials.
What is the difference between pigment powders and color pastes?
+
Pigment powders are raw, dry pigment particles that require dispersion into a resin or carrier system by the customer. They offer maximum formulation flexibility and are ideal for masterbatch and color paste manufacturers. Color pastes are pre-dispersed pigment concentrates ready for direct use in specific coating systems, offering convenience and consistent dispersion without the need for grinding equipment.
